Nurse Cake
My sister commissioned me to do this for a nurse she works with. I am really happy with how it turned out. It is a ten inch white cake with raspberry filling. The accessories are a mixture of fondant and gumpaste, so are edible. The tip of the needle is a toothpick (the only un-edible thing). The stethoscope is painted with silver luster dust, as is the "needle".
I hope the EKG readout is normal...heehee...

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Bad angle on the pic...sorry! Imagine Mickey's head turned more toward you, so you are looking at his "face" and not the side, and that was how the cake was presented.
The only thing not edible on this cake was the head/ears. Those are fondant-covered styrofoam, so it wouldn't be too heavy. The whole thing sits on a sheet cake, and the clubhouse is also fondant-covered cake. The hand, and "feet" are fondant covered rice crispy treats (easy to mold). I was pretty happy with this one...I thought it was cute.
**Update on Mickey...his hand fell over!!! I suspected this might happen, because it was so heavy. I have a few ideas to make this better in the future. Still, pretty embarrassing!
Horsie cake
This horse cake was done for a friend's daughter's birthday. I got to pick what I wanted to do, but the birthday girl was having a horse party (which had real horses to ride, BTW...very fun).
It was ALOT of cake...an 11X15 sheet cake, then the horse was a whole cake as well. Obviously a ton of icing, too. I was happy with it. It was challenging for me, because I can't "see" things very well...as in, it was hard for me to envision where the eyes would go and how to build up the snout. I guess it's not bad for a first try.
